
Self-Fill Honey Bun
INGREDIENTS
Crust
1/2 cup butter
1 1/3 cups flour
3 tbsp. cold water
Batter
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1 cup flour
4 eggs
1/2 cup honey
1 tsp. vanilla
Icing
1 cup confectioners sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2-3 tbsp. cream
Chopped pecans, if desired
DIRECTIONS
Crust
Using a pastry blender, cut butter into flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; add water and blend until a dough forms.
With floured fingers, press dough onto ungreased cookie sheet to form a 10" circle.
Spread batter to within 1" of edges.
Bake at 400 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown and crusty.
Cool slightly and frost with batter.
Sprinkle with chopped pecans.
Batter
Melt butter in boiling water in a 2-quart saucepan.
Bring to boil again.
Add flour all at once.
Cook over medium heat.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating vigorously after each until mixture is smooth and glossy.
Stir in honey and vanilla.
Icing
Combine confectioners sugar, vanilla and cream; mix until a spreadable consistency.
